What is a Science Venture camp?

During the months of July and August, Science Venture runs weekly day camps at the University of Victoria. Each camp group is lead by two university students, who deliver innovative, fun, and hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math programming.  Campers get the opportunity to explore the university, meet researchers, and conduct experiments in real labs.  Programs are offered to youth in entering Grade 1-9 in the fall of 2012.  

What are camp hours? 

Summer camps run Monday - Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Extended hours are available for an additional cost, which allow parents to drop off as early as 8:00 am and pick up as late as 5:00 pm.  

What training do staff receive?  

All Science Venture instructors have:

  • First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Criminal Record Checks
Extensive pre-camp training includes: 
  • lab safety, WHMIS, earthquake safety, behaviour management, communication, and program design

When is the summer 2012 schedule available?

The summer program offerings and schedule will be available on March 1, 2012.  

When does registration open?
Online and in-person registration opens on Monday April 2, 2012.
