Description

The University of Victoria’s Science Venture program has been delivering STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programming to Vancouver Island youth (ages 5-18) since 1991. Through innovative in-school workshops, after-school clubs, summer camps and events, our mission is: To inspire all Vancouver Island youth to explore their potential and discover their vital role in the world through life changing STEM experiences.

We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible high school students to join our summer camp team as interns! This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with youth programs, build leadership skills, and contribute to a fun, inclusive, and educational camp environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily camp setup and takedown, including organizing supplies and materials

  • Support camp coordinators and instructors during activities and workshops

  • Help encourage participation in group activities

  • Contribute to activity planning and brainstorming creative ideas

  • Assist with registration and welcoming campers each day

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and inclusive environment for all participants

  • Design and lead camp-wide activities/competitions between camps

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support camp operations

Qualifications:

  • Must have volunteered as a Junior Counsellor previously

  • Must be a high school student in grade 10-12 in September 2026

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions

  • Friendly, energetic, and comfortable working with children and peers

  • Passionate about STEM
